Just trying a different oil to test oil consumption. My current OEM filter has ~1000 miles on it.

I've always been of the mindset to replace filters/gaskets whenever serviced, but ~1000 miles just seems like a waste.

Good idea to re-use the existing filter or replace and better be safe than sorry?

Thinking of trying Pennzoil Ultra 10W30 - currently using Mobil 1 10W30 High Mileage.

I think the OEM filter can go 7500 miles. I'd just reuse it

Dump it and reuse it. I would on my car no problem.

IIRC oem filter is good for 2 oil changes. im sure there will be an oil guru that can chime in soon. as billman says dump and change should be ok.
