I'd never call you a dumbass. It is against forum rules and the fact that I think you're capable of getting this information yourself means that I haven't written you off as a dumbass.

That's great! It's reasons like this why I don't think you're incapable of getting your own info.

I think it's sad that you've written yourself off as incapable of doing any of this. The oil analysis is provided by other companies, Blackstone for instance. We don't have to do the oil analysis ourselves. The raw product data is what we can compile and contrast this with our own submitted oil analysis. This will give us a pretty good idea of which oils are good and bad. None of this is hard to do, and you're perfectly capable of doing it, just like I am. Give yourself some credit man, sounds like I'm not the one with the inferiority issues here?

I actually agree with this statement. But when I post back regarding your rhetorical questions, don't complain. I can post as many responses to your rhetorical questions as I want.

you're welcome
- road rage provided more than a "recap" of blackstone's oil analysis. he provided technical data and provided his own explanations regarding oil...not just the "blackstone analysis". the information he provided is BEYOND looking it up, gathering it, and re-hashing it online.

- you can post as many responses to me as you'd like...i don't mind. but keep the crass attitude in your home, and off the internet...especially towards strangers that you don't even know.

the only question I asked, besides the rhetorical "where is road rage", is why haven't I seen the change in SAE specs anywhere outside of s2ki. and you helpfully provided the link on page 10. so thanks. that's all you really need to provide...as I obviously missed it when reading this thread.

No, they completely re-formulated it for service fleet bypass filtration. Not a negative change, but not meaningful for us non-canton owners.

When I looked into buying LE607 and found it had been discontinued I called Lubrication Engineers and talked with them about what is the closest equivalent. The closest thing they had was only sold in 5gallon quantities and was $250 IIRC. I tried to get a group buy, but it got deleted lol. I will be running Cusco, its pretty expensive, $36/liter but whatever, it'll last 5K miles and the J's LSD will love it

well, this completely conflicts with the idea that 1605 is a suitable replacement...

unless they hadn't packaged 1605 in the individual bottle at the time you called them, which I don't think is the case.

which leads to the question...what product did they offer to sell to you in the 5-gallon drum?

Now I recall why I was trying to get something else. I had not yet heard that the SAE 110 was more similar to SAE 90 for some reason, I think LE told me that. I was worried about the viscosity. I may have been trying to purchase 1604, it has been so long I cant recall. I think if you buy a case straight from LE its like $300

response from Jeff of Rick's:

"LE 1605 is the right fluid. The way the SAE changed the ratings, what was
90W is now 110w. It did not get thinker, they just changed the ruler."

Thanks
jeff
