especially true since we don't have any warnings for open doors/trunk in this car.
In which car? Door and trunk open warning lights on the dashboard have been standard in this car -- the S2000 -- since MY2000.

Or am I reading out of context? (Again? )

Post your sequence that you are using to reprogram.

I've tried numerous sequences, which i've heard from different sources. But the one that I think is the most repeated is this...

Get in car
Lock driver side door to have everything locked up
Put key into ignition and turn to On (2)
one second later press lock button on remote
one second later turn key to Accessory (1) (Keep in mind I've also tried turning all the way to off 0 numerous times too)
one second later turn key to On (2)
one second later press lock button on remote
one second later turn key to Accessory (1)
one second later turn key to On (2)
one second later press lock button on remote
one second later turn key to Accessory (1)

And yea.. you get the idea, I do that for about 10 turns until giving up and accepting that I'm not going to hear the doors lock, or any indication that the remote is programmed.

Wondering if you have the correct remote? There are a lot of Honda remotes that look exactly the same but use different frequencies.

Also, on our cars, the (dealer installed) OEM alarm comes with its own remotes that only work thru the alarm (and they look the same as the regular remotes except they have the word "option" instead of an open trunk symbol on one of the buttons.) The alarm remotes can't be programmed to work with the standard keyless entry on the car.

As a reference, here's the model numbers on my remotes ----35011-KA. TX72147-KA

I have an '07 and I'm not sure whether the remotes are the same all years. Maybe someone with the same 2002 model year as yours can check their remote and post their model numbers for you.

Those are the part numbers on my '06 as well.

A buddy has no remote for his '02 S2000 and bought this same transmitter earlier this week. Compatibility list shows it works for all years of the S2000. I expect he'll know if it works by Thanksgiving.

There are 15 steps to program the remote regardless of model year. Here's the page from the shop manual:

What a lifesaver, thank you! Had no idea what was causing this. I've never been happier to see a bunch of broken wires.
