The A/C compressor has an electromagnetic clutch. I wouldn't worry about it.

operation of the clutch is also controlled by the ecu. im sure they (honda) has thought of this potential problem with a 9k rpm engine being used..

Modifry posted that he determined the compressor disengages someplace around 7500 RPM (don't remember exactly) and won't re-engage until a somewhat lower level...

Yes, I've noticed on both my Civic and my S2000 the A/C will shut off if the rpm is too high. I have 6.5 years and 105k miles on the Civic, and the A/C is fine.

ps. I have 'friends' tell me I shouldn't rev the thing so high. They don't get invited to sit next to me in the car again. (:

I am pretty sure all cars these days dump the A/C at WOT - it would make sense for Honda to limit or stop A/C below WOT but still way high in the RPM range. I guess I would ask why you would want A/C on under those circumstances? Or are you hypothesizing in case you are cruising, then decide some Civic needs a lesson? But A/C compressors are not cheap, and in my case,. when i am going to get on the car hard, the A/C goes off and stays off.

The, you kinda asked about running the A/C at high RPM.
