trouble starting after long drive
hey guys/gals. seems my 01 is having a hard time starting after a longer drive of say 20 minutes or more. if i run down the street to the store, shut it off while i go inside and then return a few minutes later it will start up just fine. if i run across town to my friends (40minute drive or so), shut it down and try and restart it it will barely crank at best, like it's got a dead battery. if i make a bunch of quick trips here and there running errands it acts like a dead battery after the third or fourth stop. if i let it sit for an hour then it fires right back up like the battery has a full charge.
could this be the battery even though it's fine and charged after sitting overnight? it's almost as if heat is effecting it more than anything and once the engine compartment temps drop it's fine to go again. or is there a starter relay or something else that i should be looking to replace before a battery?
thanks!

I think it's your battery. Years ago I had to run a 6 volt system into a engine that really required 12 volts. My rod wouldn't start when hot but no problems after sitting. If the regulator is allowing the battery to over heat, I think this is also a possibility..
