Trouble with K&N FIPK
I have a 2008 S2000 that is all stock. I decided to add a K&N FIPK to help increase the sound and add alittle power and torque. My best friend and I installed the intake tonight. We did everything step by step. Including removing the vacume line, the coolant line, and the sensor that attaches inside the OEM intake tube. Everything went on fairly well for the most part. We got the new 1/4" vacume line reinstalled, and the new 1/2" coolant line reinstalled as well as drilling the 5/8" hole and reinstalling the sensor in the new tube.
Problem is when I started the car I got the dreaded CEL. No leaks, we rechecked both lines, and rechecked the sensor. No damage and everything is attached correctly and is correctly tightened. The 'only' thing I did not do according to instructions is disconnect the battery. Is this really neccesary just to remove a vacume line and coolant line and unplug the sensor back into the intake tube? Anyways, what should I do now? Should I unplug the battery? If so, how long should I let it sit before plugging it back in? Besides reprogramming all of the radio channels and clock, what else will need to be done? Or should I take it and have Advanced Auto or a similar store check out the CEL with their code reader?
Is this a common issue with the FIPK or is it all because I didn't disconnect the battery?
Thanks

Read through this thread and see if you have the same issue... it is possible that you flip-flopped vacuum lines 6 & 8 around when re-installing the lines. This is a common error when installing the FIPK.

More than likely have the vacuum lines mixed up. It is a common occurence for installs on the FIPK. Check out:

specifically post #7.
EDIT: CoolGuy beat me to it by a minute!

I like how my post is referenced! lol
Take a deep breath, it'll be alright and re-think everything you did and do a slow but thorough exam.
You'll find what you might have missed or put in the wrong place.
Didn't have to drill the hole for the air temp on my 04 F22. That was the only difference for my install.

I had the same problem when I installed the K&N on my 06. All you have to do is pull fuse #13 (called "back-up" fuse)(check the manual to be sure) out and put it back. No more cell...since 5 years ago. Hope that help.

What's the point of zipping on over to autozone when you can just reset the ECU (llike the instructions say) and see if the check engine light comes back on..
Anytime you're unplugging sensors for intake/testpipe and stuff like that on a DBW car you should reset the ECU.. They're way more prone to throwing a CEL than earlier years..
