Trickle Chargers & Battery Maintainers - Worth it for Part Time Use?
I killed my Honda OE battery. I think the lack of maintence on the car over the winter had a lot to do with it.the battery has been starting the car slower and slower. The other day it left me stranded. Being that it is not my daily driver either I think having the battery consistently sit didn't help matters. After researching what battery to get on s2ki I decided to go with another OE battery.
I do have an amp in my car and I know that a good battery can sit for a while and still start the car right up. So the question is should I still get a trickle charger or maintainer. To complicate the matter, I don't readily have an outlet that I can plug a trickle charger into 24/7. I could intermittently trickle charge the battery over the weekends. Maybe a little more often in the winter if I can get around to cleaning out the garage. The question being, is a trickle charger going to be worth it if not used consistently? And if so has anyone used any of these (or any new recommendations) I saw a post that that recommended the battery tender but it was a few years old:

Jeremy, life has been getting tougher, after being kicked off that show?
I use one of these. It has slow 0.8amp charging option. I used this over to re-charge batteries, if cars will not be in use for awhile. It has read-out for voltage and current. Sure that anything similar will do fine, for your needs.

Thanks for the input guys.
It seems like most of the chargers have a amp-hour cap for the batteries they will charge if they are becoming discharged. I have been trying to figure out the amp hours (Ah) for the OE battery and there does not seem to be any official Ah listed anywhere. Has any figured it out? Or is there a way to calculate it?
