Default Transmission whine part 252728161

[left]Alright guys here goes, first off I’d like to say I’ve done proper searching of the s2ki forum. I’ve found ALOT of this same problem. Found a ton of YouTube videos and suggestions of this same noise, but all were inconclusive and the threads just died with no resolution or even a lot of them from pre-2005 when ap1s all had low miles and a lot of these normal problems were still becoming known.

first off - AP1 with 73k on the clock- service intervals for everything have been followed to the letter. Stock drivetrain

This is a noise that has continually gotten louder as time has gone on....I’ve got the typical clutch buzz in 2-3-4 gears but also a noise while sitting in neutral without clutch pressed in its super high pitched rotational whine ....just to give some clues as to help you maybe know what this is...if I’m coasting to a stop (5ish mph and below) you can hear the whine go in a rotational noise waaaa___waaaaa___waaa until the car comes to a complete stop and then it’s a constant wine.

Ive found a YouTube through this forum to possibly help determine the issue. If you have experienced this noise and have fixed the problem PLEASE help out as I’m trying to get the car 100% for a full season of autox and some track days

Coming from the trans tunnel, rear end center, or one of the corners?

That’s hard to tell...it’s just noticed while stationary in the cabin...I haven’t checked around with a stethoscope

The sound is likely coming from ether first or second gear, which are the only ones in motion during idle/clutch out.

Can you try to replicate the sound in 1st or 2nd gear while driving?
