Transmission Fluid Change DIY
#142
This is the lazy mans method. Dump the pump and get yourself about 4ft of vacuum hose (1/2in I believe ),thread the hose down through the engine bay and into the fill hole and pour 2 full qts into your funnel at the top of your hose. Leave the drain pan in place to catch the excess and consider this excess as a rinse. Wait 2-3 minutes to drain off the extra half qt or so, reinstall the drain bolt and your done. NO PUMP, NO MESS, NO FUSS.
I want to make one little correction to this post. Use standard heater hose vice vacuum hose. This size WILL fit perfectly into the fill hole.

So I stopped in at my local autozone to get some other things and while i was there i looked for MTF. Couldn't find any so i asked the guys working, they couldn't find anything on their computer and suggested ATF. Now am i right in thinking that i should not do this? Where, besides a dealership, are you guys getting your fluids?

I just did my fluid change last Tuesday cause I had the 2nd gear pop, I used Amsoil and Honda MTF and nothing ever since! It shifts so smooth now. I figured I'd try this first before rebuilding and for the money it's spot on. If only I can figure out this stupid chatter coming from the car

I just did my tranny and put in 5-7 pumps before of new oil and i used 2 quart bottles and im not seeing it leak out. Im pretty sure it's close. Any know if it has to be completely full or is like 95% full fine

I changed the fluid on my S because it had a bit of 2nd gear scratch at certain RPM's, drained and refilled with the correct amount of Honda MTF but the scratch still persists Is this something normal with AP1's or will I have to find a new tranny soon?

Just did mine today along with differntial. going to see tommorow if it fixed the second gear "clunk" while cold. Great DIY!
Sounds cheap but i used an old cleaned out listerine pump and worked great. saved $10 or so.
