We have a manual transmission, no filter. Just drain, refill and go!

Red face

I finally got my tranny fluid done today.

Car had 15,680 miles at the time of change. I assume this was the factory fluid. It had some visible silver in the oil … and was a bit darker than I expected … but no horror show.

I used the Honda MTF 2. Car seems to shift better … especially before the oil has a chance to warm up.

Actually, I changed both the diff and the 6-speed tranny today. The changes seem to have cut down on the harsh, mechanical noise the car made. Of course, when people tell me such things I am skeptical as we want to believe what we did made a real difference. So, it’s only fair to be skeptical of my own observations as well.

Job went well enough … both plugs came out easily. I used this pump to refill:

It works well but can be messy … and cleaning it gets oil all over the place.

"Brake cleaner, FTW!"

Definitely ... for the underside of the car. However, the pump and hoses still hold a few ounces of oil regardless of you you try to empty them. Can make quite a mess as they slowly drain.
