Is it possible to put too much oil into the transmission? Reason I ask is because when I had my clutch changed my trans was out and I figured why not just change the fluid by leaning the trans over and pouring it in. I put down exactly 2liters of the MTF in the black bottle.

Anyone know if there are any adverse effects putting in more than if you were to pump it?

5 posts above you. Don't worry about it, unless you figured out how to put the car on its side.

If you look at the old posts you will see a very long discussion on the trans pump and why it should be filled as high as possible, don't worry about it.
Looked, found no posts about why you should fill beyond the amount the manual states of 1.5 Qts.

1.6L in the manuals that I have and have seen.

It took me less than 2 seconds to find the links.

I just changed the fluid in mine. I got my pump from Wal-Mart for like $8. I also used it to do my differential fluid. Came in handy!

Just to add my kudos. DON'T EVEN THINK about using some off-brand transmission fluid. We just had a complete transmission rebuild at 96k miles because the previous owner/dufus used non-standard transmission fluid at about 70k miles. He saved $70 and cost me $1500.

Or a honda tech could have dumped diff oil in there...
Didn't the transmission feel funny during test driving?
