Transmission Fluid Change
#11
I do mine every driving season. It's a bit of overkill as I only drive about 3k miles per season, but at 11 years old my tranny still drives like new.

I've only ever heard this myth in association with automatics. The theory is that as the transmission fluid stays in and ages, more and more friction material grinds off into the oil, which creates more friction, and more grinding, until all of the material in the oil is the only thing keeping the clutch pack from slipping. Old oil gets replaced with new oil and suddenly the transmission starts slipping because there's no friction material in the oil anymore.
