Default transmission bearing question

alright so about a month ago, honda told me my transmission bearing(s) might be going and they say they need to disassemble the tranny to make sure. my question is, the fluttering/ticking noise i am hearing happens while driving (in gear), but it also happens if i am at a stand-still and just revving; without being in gear. does the transmission bearing noise occur only when you're in gear, or does it happen whenever you rev the motor. my instinct tells me that you would need to be engaged in a gear for a transmission noise to occur, but i figured i would post here. my noise happens even if i'm parked and freely revving (not in gear). any idea?

Do you hear the noise when revving with the clutch disengaged (gearbox not spinning)?
Do you hear a lot of difference when in neutral, engine on and you disengage the clutch (step on the pedal)?
Any vibes in the pedal?
Does the pedal move smoothly down & up?
Constant pressure on your foot when engaging the clutch?

It might still be the gearbox though.
When was the gearbox' oil last changed?
And with what?

from what i've learned the TCT can make ticking sounds that increase in frequency as the rpms increase or it could just be you need a valve adjustment if it's pretty loud.

also i think s2k motor normally has a soft ticking noise that is the injector solenoids

the noise occurs if i am sitting still and pressing nothing but the gas, in addition to it happening while i'm driving (in gear and moving). the tranny oil was changed about 12,000 miles ago at the 60k service, the fluid is whatever honda uses. its not the valves i had them adjusted, and its not the natural ticking sound that the S makes. this noise never happened until a couple of months ago.

Try to attend to a local forum meet and have an experienced owner listen.
Maybe your "noise" is normal.
If possible post a sound clip?

That said, bearings do wear.
Especially with low oil level and long oil change intervals.
12k miles is ok though (IMO)

In your case with the noise suddenly appearing, the primairy shaft bearings, maybe the gear's needle bearings.
Or all.
Secundairy reduction is most likely the driving noise.
Metal debris from those may have hurt other bearings too.
