Transmission is 5 inches off the block how much
Just wondering how far the tranny has to be off the block before it can come completely down from the block. It is about 5 inches off now and I just want to be prepared for when it comes all the way off as I will e the onlt one supporting its way down to the floor.

put a floor jack under it and just keep coming back. I'll have a spare transmission tomorrow to measure, but I remembered it as only about 4 inches before the input shaft was clear and the transmission could be lowered.

Got it. I just had the lamp under and watched it come copletely free. I lowered it down slowly and put it on some cardboard and scooted it accross the garage. Absolutely 0 left on the clutch. Thats what 380hp does to a stock clutch after a few thousand miles. it held to 388hp and 294 tq until it broke free on the dyno.
Thanks again for your help.

just wondering if you did this by yourself on a floor jack, is this possible with limited resources? i had a friend change a prelude clutch and all he had to do was shift it over and rested it on his chest but the s2000 transmission looks huge...

I'm not going to say it's a feather, but it was way lighter than I thought it was. I had help getting it off, but I installed it myself. You can easily pick the transmission up and move it around with good positioning. Make sure the trans is in reverse when you install it so you can wiggle the output. It helps line the splines up. A prybar on the fork makes it easier too.

Just realized that a 1/2 inch breaker bar and 12point 17mm isn't gonna cut it for the flywheel bolts. Trying to torque them off and the motor kept lifting up.
I just ordered an electric impact wrench from sears. I hope it works.

ChefJ,
I broke 3 Sears sockets by trying to remove those bolts with my air impact. Be very careful as you do not want to round those bolts !!!
I ended up going back to Sears and buying a 24" breaker ... my brother got under there and I kept the engine from spinning using a 19" wrench on the crank pulley. He got them off, swore up and down but got them off.
