Default TRANSMISSION

has anyone on this forum had an s2k trans apart? what id like to know is, are there any tricks, lil things i may need to know etc. i plan on getting a helms manual and see what it has to say. but if anyone in here has done a few and has some info that will help, id like to hear it. ill pick up any of the special tools i may need to seperate it, or jigs etc. it seems to me, the part that fails most on our gearboxes, is the sliders. couple missed gears and your done. so im gona start gathering parts and when it wont shift, apart it comes. laters and thanks for any info ahead, dave.

Apart from the usual spanners, sockets and bearing splitters, the only specialist tool seems to be used to hold the spigot while you undo a huge nut on the output sprocket that drives the output shaft in the shifter housing.

I gutted an old clutch plate to get the splined section, then welded on some scrap steel to make a ghetto version of whats shown in the workshop manual.

More like a front wheel drive gearbox inside.

Chris.

You will need a very large allen that you can also apply a significant amount of leverage to.
