I took the car in for the TSBs re: 2nd gear grind and clutch noise back on 5/8 (dealer had ordered the parts, and they were in)...picked the car up on 5/23... when I picked it up I noticed the transmission had a definite whine unless the clutch was depressed or car was sitting in neutral... so, it seems that they felt they needed to order two bearings. they're still not in. Anyway, now there is no synchro at all between first and second (only way to get into 1st. gear is at a dead stop)...now have no second gear at all. Have to go from 1st. to 3rd... Now it is also getting almost impossible to get into reverse. I asked the dealer about getting a new transmission. He says no way. (This was Friday, before I lost second gear completely, and the reverse problem developed...) My wife over heard the idiot who worked on the transmission tell the svc. manager something about he 'dropped the bearings' when assembling the tranny...(couldn't hear all of the conversation) so I think this is where the bearing thing came in... I'm ready to call Honda tomorrow am...any suggestions???

You are right. Call the zone office first thing, tell them the situation and explain you will not be comfortable until they replace the box. The person that worked on it is obviously not qualified and the service manager should have never given a crippled car back to a customer. Insist on a Honda funded rental and discuss taking the car to another dealership.

I must say that so far I have not been impressed with Honda zone for SE US...but I will try again tomorrow. Maybe an attorney will have better luck. At this rate the car won't be driveable in a couple of more days. Sure glad they 'fixed' it. They did pay for the rental last time to the tune of $350. for the 15 days the dealer had it. (at least I didn't pay for it, had it billed to them with their ok.) I don't intend to stop until something is done. Maybe a class action thing...with the news media involved?? I'm sure Honda would like that?
