I have 00', and a whine when slowing down from about 30-0 mph. I replaced the diff, and still have noise. from my research done here, and info from others. it may be a galled bearing in the tranny, or as xviper said. these car dont have a lot of sound damping, and you will hear a lot of mechanical noise. so put car on lift and try to find the noise, and send a sample of your gear oil to be analysed, or just live with it. as mine still works great so far.IMO

I don't have a lift but hope to borrow one soon. Because the noise is only when at cruise and not at acceleration and decceleration I am puzzled. I am going to have it checked before the turbo install and see where it goes from there. Thanks for the tips.

Any luck finding the culprit of this noise? Its just annoying the hell out of me.
