its nice to have a torque wrench but there are lots of people who change their motor oil and dont bother torqueing, just sayin...youll probably have a harder time getting at the diff fill bolt.

I would not recommend using a torque wrench on the tranny or diff. There have been a few members that have broken off the trans drain bolt ear using a torque wrench. Replace the washer and tighten it.

So you recomend tightening it without doing it to torque specs

This doesn't make sense, why wouldn't you use a torque wrench? If anything you will overtighten it without a torque wrench b/c 33ft lbs isn't very much...

Now I wouldn't recommend using a torque wrench to remove the bolts, use a ratchet for that.

I'd consider everything the previous owner says to be suspect. Change all fluids.

^He is correct.

People use the wrong drive torque wrench for the job. They set the WRONG torque wrench too low in its range where it was not designed to operate and overtighten things.

Almost all the people that contact me about how to get a broken bolt out were using a torque wrench. Thw wrong one.
