Is the tranny supposed to be so loud
Ok ive had my s2000 for 2 weeks now and i am really starting to notice how loud the transmission is. My main concern is when im moving in 1st gear at low speeds and decide to press the clutch to stop i hear 2 clanks they arent loud at all but when i press the clutch it goes dink dink really fast afterwards. I only hear it in 1st gear when im at low speeds. Its also pretty loud when putting it in first gear is that normal too. Gonna do a tranny fluid change aspa because i think the previous owner may have never done one and the car has 85k miles . He did change the diff oil 2k miles ago though. Thanks for the input guys.

Thats not righ at all. I'd change both soon. The diff takes a 90wt(i think) GL5 gear oil and the trans is more of a 10w30 weight oil with modifiers in it. They are NOT interchangable.

If you can find one that reads low enough. All the cheap wrenches I've seen are on the upper end of the usable foot pound scale for this car. You want a wrench where the tq you use the most is close to the center scale of the wrench.

Yeah, that would be pretty good for a lot of the stuff on the car with that range. If you're just doing little stuff and don't want to spend much you can get by with that fine. I bought a one that came with a calibration certificate thats good for between 7-44ft/lbs just to have the piece of mind that it was right. It was also a lot more than the duralast and made in Germany
