Moving to main part of UTH. I'd like to keep Technical for very specific procedures and descriptions of problems and fixes. Yours is more of a request for opinions and cost estimates.

ps. As for your topic, I think it's somewhat premature to search for a fix for a problem that does not yet exist. How do you know what is going to fail? There are hundreds of components to a tranny and dozens which could account for the problems already posted about. I, too, have a MY'00 (S/Cd) and it is running really well. I'm not going to worry about something that might never happen. If you're going lose some sanity over the tranny, maybe you should also be thinking about when the rear diff goes, or when the CVs go, or when the valve retainers crack, or when the clutch goes, or the rear wheel hubs. It is entirely possible that by the time one of these (or one of many other items) goes, they would have simply needed replacement due to time and usage. Then this becomes a cost of "doing business". Why not wait till something breaks and THEN spend the money, rather than spend the money on something that might never need it?
Life is too short to drag around that kind of excess and needless baggage.
