hrmmm......well so far we can establish

-It only ticks when engaged in a gear
- The ticking is present in multiple gears
- Each gear you go up, the sound gets successively louder.

What about shifting gears? is it smooth? notchy? impossible?
Engaging gears - from neutral to first can you pick up and go as normal?

What about if you have the car in neutral and rev it? can you hear any noise?

I think with this one its probably not going to be a 'quick fix', and unless your going to get under the car, remove the gearbox and check some stuff your going to have to take it to a mechanic anyway. sounds like an odd problem.

Could be a damaged driveshaft perhaps?

good luck with it man, probably not a good idea to keep driving it until you get it fixed though.
ticking is present when the car is rolling, or accelerating
the louder sound comes in 2nd gear...
other gears has the same volume as 1st gear
i only did testing up to 30 km/h
when im in neutral and rev and stepping on the clutch, no sound
when im in neutral and reving and not stepping on the clutch, there is sound

OK, the fact that this happens when the car is not in motion tells us that it's not in the driveline, so it is PROBABLY* in the gearbox or clutch. Either way, the transmission is going to have to come out of the car to fix the problem.

* PROBABLY, because there is really no way to be certain without having the car here to check out myself.

My *guess* is that something related to second gear was damaged during the shift, but I won't even try to guess exactly what that might be.

Man, that second video sounds more like a clutch than a gearbox.

Either way it isn't a good sound and the trans is coming out of the car, so you might as well get it in to a good shop and let them sort it out for you.

Good luck!

there is nothing you can do.. but open it up and have it for them to look...

I know your car not under warranty...

bring it to PDM racing in Burnaby or AJR in Richmond..

sad to hear this..

Unless the Mysterious S2000 Repair Angel fixed this overnight I think you have to do what others allready suggested.
Remove the transmission.
Then you can have a look at the clutch.
If that's not it (and it isn't IMO).. open up the transmission.

I would not drive the car anymore.

Succes!

Last year I broke couple of teeth of the 2nd gear, and it sounded like the video you posted. I ended up changing both gears, and all bearings in the tranny. I will try to post the pictures soon.
