Tranny issues.
Okay, so after reading some posts on here, some of you seem to say that a notchy 1st to 2nd gear shift is a bad sign.
Then there's the "chunk" when going from neutral into 1st gear.
I just replaced my diff., tranny, and engine oils with Mobil1 75w90, Honda MTF (2007), and Mobil1 Synthetic, respectively.
Should these issues go away?
The 1st into 2nd notch is still there a bit.

try switching to honda 's new MTF. It helped alot when I did it.
As to the clunk, this has been addressed hundreds of times. Your engine oil will have zero to do with the clunk. It's a driveline noise associated specifically with your transmission. When in neutral with the clutch out (I'm over simplifying this explanation) there are still parts of your transmission that are spinning. When you put the clutch in the transmission continues to spin. Selecting first gear in the transmission will cause the perfectly normal clunk that many S2000 owners experience.
I can always duplicate this clunk if I stick the car into first gear quickly after putting the clutch in. I would suggest easing the car into 1st gear. This doesn't mean you have to take forever and a day to select 1st, merely try and select the gear more "softly". I notice that a lot of people who drive manual transmissions like to slam the car into first when taking it out of neutral.

:agree: Some clunk into first is normal on most cars. Another thing to try, other than putting it in slow and easy, is to put it in 2nd or even 3rd, then go down the gears into first. I forget what it is that this helps, but it does usually help.

Lol.
I had the same concern when I first got into my car; every car I have ever own never had an issue getting into first regardless of weather, but this car refuses to get into first until it's fully warmed up; 3rd to 1st everytime. My only concern now is that when it's time to sell having to explain all this to a new s2k owner.

Start out with the car running, in neutral, with the clutch out. Put the clutch all the way to the floor and select first gear. If you hear a driveline "thunk" when the shift lever enters the 1st gear shift gate this is generally regarded as a normal symptom.
On the other hand, if you find it exceedingly difficult or nearly impossible to select 1st gear when the car is cold this indicates a different problem. Assuming that the car is in neutral and NOT moving you should always be able to select 1st gear with little effort. From what you're describing it sounds like the car doesn't even want to go into 1st until you've selected another gear beforehand. If you haven't already I would try changing your transmission fluid with one of 5 or so lubricants discussed to exhaustion here on these boards. You're bound to find a fluid that will work well.
If, upon changing the fluid, the car still resists going into 1st gear then you might have a clutch adjustment issue on your hands.
