yeah, so i doubt it's clutch drag, which leads me to believe it's something wrong with the actual transmission itself. which means a WHOLE lot more $$$ than a simple clutch job.

I'm afraid you won't really know till you dig deeper and start to take things apart.

the mechanic says the pressure plate needs to be replaced. not only that but the synchros are probably bad too. i'll take the blame for possibly screwing up the synchros with the diff fluid snafu, but the clutch thing really pisses me off. the only reason i bought this car is because i wanted that wonderful honda reliability. there's no telling what the previous owner could have done to screw this up, but needless to say, i'm not happy at all about this.

i imagine once the car is out of the shop it will be going up for sale. i've had the car for 4 months and already i'm going to be footing a bill for almost $1,000. my highly "unreliable" DSM never had a repair to cost me that much.

perhaps i'm just bitter, but this sucks.

honda does have a TSB to have the '00 clutch replaced, maybe the mechanic can have your labor goodwilled under that. he puts in the better clutch and honda pays the labor and you just pay for a pressure plate. the synchro problem was your own fault. and i dunno whats up with your diff (i don't remember if you stated it in this thread or not)

nothing is wrong with my diff. i'll see if i can get honda to help me out with the pressure plate. thanks for that idea!

btw, the 2nd gear synchro in this car was shot when i bought it. it would grind all the time on the 1 2 shift. the shop is going to be doing a transmission fluch and replacing the amsoil fluid with BG synchroshift (good stuff.) hopefully that will help.

as soon as this car is drivable it's going up for sale. there's a lot of things i will miss, and a few that i won't.

there is another TSB for the 1->2 grind you have. its a stacking tolerance problem. its tsb-054 or 055, i don't remember which.
