Ok guys, I don't know why you are talking about changing your transmission fluid.

This is almost certainly the clutch disc not fully releasing which could be caused by the clutch cylinder or the clutch disc/pressure plate itself.

I would start with the the hydrualic system since it's much easier to diagnose/fix then the clutch assembly itself.

ok i bled the clutch, and changed out the transmission fluid, but it still feels exactly the same. it almost feels as if the synchros aren't doing their job. when i shift the gears they don't pop into place until the engine is at the same rpm as it would be for that given gear at that given speed.

If you've bled the hydraulics and are still having problems I would suggest jacking the rear of the car up and putting it on jack stands. Then, start the car, put it in first and see if the wheels turn with the clutch fully in. If they do, your clutch isn't properly disengaging and this will cause the problem you are seeing.

If that is the case it is best case a problem with the master or slave cylinder. Worst case, stuffed clutch. Having just changed mine I can tell you it is one hell of a job.

What kind of tranny fluid are you guys using? You mentioned bleeding your clutch, it really should be flushed completely, cause the clutch fluid get dirty quickly. Chances are, dirty, contaminated fluid damaged the piston seal inside the clutch master, meaning that it is too late as bleeding or flushing will not do any good. I would still flush like a half pint of fluid through it.

my car had had similar problems, it's hard getting it into 1st and reverse at first but after a while it gets noticeably better/smoother, also shifting into third it has a small grind. I brought the car to honda and they told me I need a new clutch ($950) with labor! This didn't make sense to me because my car is an '01 with 23,000 miles on it it runs great and I bought it used but the overall mileage and condition of the car seems truly mint like it was really taken care of. I'm not a mechanic but To me it feels like the gearbox is not aligned right because it has difficulty getting into 1st but if you put it in 3rd,4th,5th while still at a dead stop it seems to loosen the gearbox and it will smoothly go into 1st after I go through the gears from a stop. Either way, I'm going to bring it to another honda or maybe a normal mechanic to see what they say the problem is. Any info or similar problems please PM me with any help - thanks
