I agree with slipstream on the RP hype - they have not been around long, are not an engineering oriented company (founded by a salesman, right?), and do not have the credentials of a major, nor even Lubrication Engineers, which has been around since 1954. I caught their website in some preverications a while back, where they did not fess up that some of their synoils are GIII hydrocracks. Same lie as Castrol pulled off with domestic Syntec, and Amsoil is running the same game with XL-7500.

I have more miles on the GMSFM, and like it more and more, as I drive the car harder (now over 1800 miles since December!).

Amsoil does not make a lube for our tranny. If you have put GL-5 in there, drain it soon.

I just purchased a case of GMSMFM from a GM dealer north of Oklahoma City. So far my first impressions are consistent with most out there - positive.
For note, I had just changed my transmission with Redline MTL ~100 miles before switching over to SMFM so that I could do an apples to apples comparison. There is a big difference in the consistency of shifts. For the first time in my S2000's life I've actually experienced smooth and consistent shifts. 1-2 felt like 2-3, 3-4,

The part number that was previously posted didn't work or cross reference at local Chevy or GM parts department though. The label of the product stated:

Then it goes into the breakdown previously posted by Road Rage.
It came in a black bottle with a blue (photo artwork) label on the front.
Cost was right at $9.25 a quart.

I'm running the GM SMFM in my '04 and have been really happy with the results. As a side note, my honda dealer sells Royal Purple fluids.

Just because your Honda dealer sells it, does not make it good. Some of the worst products, services, and advice can be found at your local Honda dealership. Caveat emptor my friend

I just returned from Thunderhill. The GMSMFM worked fine. I still think the non-FM SM is smoother and less notchy, though not track worthy. I had a few grinds, but this was probably a result of sustained 9K driving in elevated tempertures. My tranny gauge is not working so I have no idea what it was operating at. The ambient temp was 90 degrees.

So is this the same stuff??? (why diff p/n's?) My local GM dealer had the part #12377916...so thats what I bought.
