took car in for 30k service, no longer goes in 5th
well this is pretty bizarre...
my '02 s2k no longer goes into 5th gear. it feels like the shifter is 'blocked' and no amount of pushing/gentle finagling will get it to engage. 4th and 6th work fine.
the other odd coincidence is that the warranty expired less than a week ago, and i just took the car in for the 30k service. i don't see anything on the list which would cause them to go near the tranny (except checking the fluid level) so i'm a bit at a loss here.
all suggestions appreciated! thanks!

I had the same thing happen to me and all Honda did was grease the shifter. But by the time I could get it in it was going into 5th again.
It finally got so that I could force it into gear but it would pop back out so I had to hold it in gear for a lot of miles and then it worked again.
I was told it came from skipping gears when I shifted. I had read a TSB about the problem but never could find it again.
Sorry I'm not much help
Did you find they had driven the car before getting it back to you? Running it up the first 3 gears fast and then going to 6th is supposed to not allow the synchros to spin up and cause the prob. They may have been having a little fun with your car before giving it back to you.

be sure and have her looked at asap, even if you are out of warranty by a few weeks, the people at Honda are not that mean, they will good will it and help you out if it was their fault.
