Too much or too little?
So i checked my oil last night mostly because i read a thread saying some of you check it every fill up and i've certainly gone a few without. Anyway, it seemed low while the car was off, def the last 1/2 inch of the dipstick, not even touching the "L" portion of the stick. So i dumped a 1/2 quart and it didn't seem to make a difference, then i dumped the rest of the quart and then couldn't really tell.. Do the s2k dipsticks usually suck or is it just me? So my question is since i've added another whole quart of oil, whats worse... Too much oil or too little? I mean i've gone almost 4000 miles since my last change and i hear ap1s especially eat up oil.

Well from the L to the H mark on the dip stick is about 1quart of oil. Did you check the oil when the car was cold? warmed up?
If your dip stick showed oil to be about the half way mark, adding 1 quart would be too much. If it was showing closer to the L, then adding a quart wouldn't be bad.

OP. stop driving the car until you get the oil level right. YOu'll thank me later.
When the car is cool (i find this is a better way then when its hot and oil is still flowing back down), I wipe the dipstick once, put it back, then withdraw. Read the LOWER side of the dipstick, thats your oil level. Usually do this 2-3 times just to make sure. If the mark does not change, thats your level.
Always leave one X on the top, if you're doing it whiel cool..thats for the expansion when it warms up.

Okay yes, i checked it while it was dead cold and it was well below the L or any hatch markings. I just checked now after the 1 quart and about 6 hrs without driving and i am right at the L. Im thinking it was a very good idea to check and add the quart, what do you think? Thanks again fellas you guys are super helpfull.

without taking off major components its pretty hard, you could run an oil analysis but since whatever happened happend, you might as well just drive it and hope for the best.
Some people have gone 2 quarts down and came back with no problems while others have had a blown engine from less.
It all depends on how long it was low, and how hard you drove it over that period of time. the oil light on the s2k is notorious for coming on too late.

I wouldn't suggest running and hoping for the best, there is a difference between minor damaged and venting a block with a thrown rod by running it.
If I were in your shoes, I would drop the oil and get an oil sample, send it to blackstone. Check your oil drain magnet. Also, cut the oil filter and look for debris.
