Default Too much oil?

Ok so after about 17,000 miles I finally get my next oil change to synthetic. I've added 3000 miles since, but recently I've checked the level and it was showing very low, about the last X. I checked in the morning before I drove off to school, so definitely the oil was settled. I went out afterwards to buy two more quarts of oil to add, and stupid me I didn't check the level at all when I adding it in. Now, when I checked it the next morning, the oil mark showed way to high on the stick! So I added too much! Is anything going to happen or should I jus simply get another oil change?

Honda says to look at both sides of the stick and then take the lower of the 2 readings. If you've over filled, you could blow a seal or two from the higher pressures.

How much extra is in there? Did you add both of the 2 quarts you purchased ?

If it's only overfilled a little (like less than 1/4 quart) I wouldn't worry about it. If it's overfilled more than that, just drain some out. There's no need to get a complete change.

So jus go underneath the car and unscrew the bolt from the oil pan, correct? I've never changed oil before.

Wouldn't it be easier to just dump the oil in the filter once or twice?

vapors2k ...... read the 2nd bullet. Honda says to take the lower of the 2 readings.

Your oil filter is located on the passenger side of the engine, and can be reached from above. It is the round "can" that is poking out of the side. You will probably need an oil filter wrench to remove it. Just unscrew it (counter clockwise), and oil will spill out. I would remove it, poor the oil out, then put it back on (hand tight) and start the car for 1 minute. Check the oil level again, and if it's still too high, do it again. Don't use the oil filter wrench to tighten the filter. It should only be as tight as you can get it with your hands.
