I think you might have too much oil in the car. The problem with too much oil is that if it is high enough, it will foam. Foamy oil will not lubricate. It "can" cause damage, expecially to your main crank bearings.

To the guys who say just go out and VTEC the hell out of it are wrong. You have a 2008. It does not use oil probably. High RPM agressive driving is exactly what you want to avoid when there is too much oil in the pan.

Just let some out. Better to be safe than sorry. Loosen the drain plug, with oil pan below the drain, remove plug by hand and keep it in your fingers. Be ready to stop the flow of oil with another finger on your other hand (obviously you can't do this with the oil really hot). Don't stick your finger in the hole, place it over the hole. Reinsert drain plug and tighten. You'll get some oil on your hands probably but, whatever. If you let out too much, you can always put in more. Having the level sit anywhere on the X's when cold and all oil into the pan (like overnight) is fine. The line below the L is the "add 1 quart (or 1 liter) line.

It ain't rocket science. Nearly all cars work the same way.

Keep in mind that when the engine is cold, it is possible for all of the oil to drain out of your filter and the oil galleries. This results in an artificially high oil reading. The anti-drainback valve is supposed to prevent this from happening but from personal experience, it happens even with the silicone anti-drainback valve on the PCX filter if the car sits long enough.

If your oil level is below the H within an hour of shutting your engine off, it is fine. If not, then I suggest you take the advice of SheDrivesIt.

I would drain a little bit out and just be safe. Overfilling is not good.

According to Honda, the proper way to check your oil is when the engine is FULLY HOT.. AT FULL OPERATING TEMP. Heat it up fully, wait 5 minutes while parked on level ground, and then check the oil. Assuming you don't live in the arctic and 5 minutes won't cause your engine and oil to cool to ambient temp, anywhere between the L and H at this time is 100% within spec.

So if you follow this procedure and it's below the H, don't worry.

I don't do it like that anyway I always check in my driveway when cold, but I always leave it around half way so I'm never out of spec when hot.
