Arrow Tires/Springs/Axel Nut situation

Just took the 255/50 drag radials off the rear and put on Bridgestone 245/45 RE750s. Man, not sure what to think about the performance of my car now. Feels sluggish. Was I getting that much grip from those drags on sunny days at least? I had to take them off because of the rain .

I have never driven the car on anything other than those drags due to me picking it up just 3 weeks ago.

I also got a 1 inch gap between my wheel well and the top of my rear tires. With the drags I had no wheel gap. They did look bulky, but now these RE750s look puny. I finally found out the car has Skunk2 lowering springs, which gives an even drop of 1" all around. Not sure the appropriate smoothness of the ride, I've never felt stock springs.

Last, I had that "click/knock" problem coming from the rear. The shop guy that was doing my tire mounting tightened it to 220 torque. Haven't heard a "click" since.

Could be a dumb question , but could the tightening of the nut be hurting my axel, which could hurt my performance?

Thanks,
Ry

The tightening of the nut could not hurt performance since the wheels are driven by the splines on the axles and not the torque on the axle nut.

There was a TSB on the axle nut torque rating that raised it from 180 to 220 because of this clicking sound you speak of.

If someone could find proof that the nut being tightened caused a decrease in performance because of some type of friction/drag i would be interested to hear it.

Not familiar with drag tires, but could they be lighter than the stones you have on the car now?
