Default tire question

my drive tire is getting reallly bad(pretty much a slick) the other rear tire has a fair amount of tread left. Can i get away with just getting one used 225 40 18 for now. Will it make a difference if the tire brand is different and what about if the tread depths are different between the two back tires?

why is one tire wearing considerably faster than the other? you need to address this issue before getting new tires or you'll end up in the same place.

Like he said, it's his "drive tire".

Now if only someone could explain to me what that is...

It's obvious - on a left-hand drive car, it must be the left rear tire, and on a right-hand drive car, it would be be the right rear tire. Duh!
