Timing chain tensioners and you.

Timing chain tensioners and you.
Eventually we all get the dreaded TCT rattle. From my 7 years experience with this car. I can say with confidence, there is only one way to fix the TCT. Get a Billman. As far as I'm concerned sandblasting the TCT should be removed as a possible fix. It is useless, and misinformation at this point. It must be physically modified and Billman's version addresses the shortcomings of the OEM unit. He even goes through the trouble of giving you new bolts so you don't crack the block. It is totally worth the money, and the only PERMANENT fix.
I'm sure you can increase the size of the oil feed with a drill to 2mm and it'll be 65% as good, and will likely stop the rattling. But Billman's is an actual upgrade, and he has the machines to make sure all the machining is done to much tighter tolerances than some dude in his kitchen with a power drill.
His version is proven to quiet the engine as a whole instead of merely removing some TCT rattle. To the point I'm sure his actually has a net reduction in engine friction. The engine fans run less often on his version.

Plus he was smart enough to use a hardened pin, where other groups failed to realize the need for that, and we all know how that ended for purchasers of those tct's.

Not me. After reading about it here and researching Billman’s unit (along with a few emails to him) I performed a pre-emptive strike and replaced my OEM unit on my 2009 bone stock car with his at around 40K miles if I recall. Never looked back. I only wish Billman lived closer to me than on the opposite coast so he could be available to perform other work.

Same here. The Billman timing chain tensioner has been on my car for 5 years, now. I don't even think about it, anymore. Very reliable.

Too bad one has to live in the USA to purchase one of his units

Technically the TCT is considered a “Dangerous Good” To ship it, a “trusted shipper” needs to perform the packing. The only way it can NOT be considered a dangerous good is if it is brand new and never used or exposed to fuel/oil. I know you many think it is not a dangerous product and you would be correct in most ground transport situations. If it goes by air there is another school of thought that has hard and deadly experience with dangerous goods. I know, I spent 34 years in the business.
Internationally you must, by law, declare what the item(s) is/are. If you truthfully list auto parts that is going to be a flag for the shipper whether it is USPS or FedEx. They are going to want to know what kind of a part it is.
