Timing Chain Tensioner and Valve Adjustment
Well, I am about to do these services soon after reading the threads on the noises I have under the hood. The only bad thing is that since the gallery is down, the pics are not working on the DIY threads. Does anyone have links that have pics that work? Also, I have heard of the Billman 250 replacement for the tensioner, since the factory will fail again. Does anyone have details on this? When I take the valve cover off, will I need a new gasket? Any tips or tricks I should be aware of? Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help. I would do the tensioner in a minute because the sound is annoying, but I am waiting until after the Indy races in Birmingham. Also, before I adjust the valves, I want to make sure I have eliminated this noise. My car runs super smooth when driving, it just makes some noise under the hood.
On another note I finally purchased a new map sensor and added seafoam to the tank to help smooth out the idle. Map whack is not working for me any more. Hoping the new map stops the stall like symptoms at idle.

The valve adjustment isn't too bad! I did mine for the first time a week ago and my car has 115000 miles on it. It wasn't ticking or having any problems and was amazingly pretty much still in spec. I went for the .008 intake with alittle drag and .010 on the exhaust also with alittle drag and my car runs fantastic. Advance auto has a set of feeler guages that are pre bent to almost a ninty degree angle and worked really well and only cost about five bucks or so. I also did another inspection of the intake valve retainers just for piece of mind ive never over reved my car just wanted to make sure but good luck with it all man and dont wait too long for that TCT if its really bad!!

I am at work but think this is the URL where I have my how-to on the CCT. I really need to go back and put the torque specs and such in it.
I'll be doing the VA soon and will document it in the same manner, if possible.

Off topic, but I replaced my Map sensor, cleaned the IAC motor, replaced the PCV valve, Seafoam in the tank and top end and my idle is still shitty. Maybe I need to reset the computer. Any other ideas? The car nearly shuts off when I come to a stop at a red light, but then levels off to 1000 rpm. It has been doing this for about 1-2 years, but has gotten worse lately. It is the most frustrating thing and now I want the car to run normal at the red light.
