The timing cannot be thrown off by incorrect install of the TCT. It can however break the chain if installed incorrectly.

EVEN if it did....an s2k WILL NOT run with the cams out of sync (1 tooth off)

Do yourself a favor...get the CEL scanned elsewhere, so the BS can be filtered out

"oil running rich" is a complete fabrication, pretty much calling you stupid figuring you'll believe anything.

of course the valves can bend from inproper install of the timing chain tensioner.

not sure if the S has an interferance motor or not though..

demand some answers man.
Our motors are _definitely_ interference type. I mean with 11.1:1 compression , come on.

You're not going to bend a valve replacing a chain tensioner unless you removed the tensioner with the engine running.

So Here's what I've now been told...

The CEL tossed 2 codes:

P0172 - O2 Sensor - They said it is being lazy, and not returning data to the ECU fast enough, thus a wrong mixture. It is being replaced.
P410 - Air Pump - It is overheating and that causes it to "stick". It is being replaced.

I was also told that 4 of my 8 exhaust valves were "overtightened" and had to be adjusted.

They are giving me the car back today while the O2 sensor and air pump are on order.

What do you all think???

And Thanks to Billman for answering my PM Super Fast!!! It is much appreciated.

air pump is expensive. make sure you get your old one back. they DO overheat, melt themselves, and get frozen solid.

here's some good search criteria:

P0410 ...90% change melted air pump. for once i agree with the dealer. Usually accompanied by blown air pump fuse in drivers side underhood fuse block.
P0411 ...air pump flow issue...DEFINITELY not a bad air pump, 99% chance crossed/loose vac lines, backwards check valve

overtightening an exhaust valve is total incompetence, hopefully another tech gets your car to right what has been wronged. tight exhaust valves can burn quickly causing misfire codes. cylinder head removal and a valve job would soon follow.

get back to you on the 0172...
