Timing Chain Tensioner Noise

Couple of the better videos of it -- forward to the 3 minute mark for the first one and it's spot-on what mine sounds like. Interested to get the modified version, as I'll be buying a new tensioner for a race this weekend and sending Billman my old one for when the new OEM POS fails.

hi i have a 2003 s2000 with 49k miles on it . i bougth the car with 40k miles and it was running fine when i first bought it .Around 47k miles i start hearing a loud ticking noise . i research the issue on the forum and they told me it was the timming chain tensioner . i replaced the tensioner and the noise went away and the car ran perfect . about 3 months later the noise came back . it wasnt the tensioner that was broken it must be the timming chain. i decided to do the timming chain job myself cause i heard the dealer charges like $1800 . i found all the parts on majestichonda.com for about $420 big save !. i orderd the timing chain,timming chain sprockets and the timming chain guides . i reserached a lil on the job and found out that the oil pump has a chain and tensioner and also a guide . so i orderd those parts also since i was already down there so far in the engine. i start doing the job and while i was taking out the timming chain guides i noticed one had alot of wear compared to the new guide that i orderd . and the timming chain was off timming . everything thing else looked fine . after seeing the wear on the guide . it wasnt the tensioner broken that was causing the ticking it was the weared guide . it wasnt letting the tensioner tension the chain to normal . so the chain was slapping the front case since it had slack .il have some pics up soon of the wearded guide. the tensioner doesnt break that easy and neither nor that guides or the chain but what i think caused eveything was that once before i let the oil get low with out checking it for a while and the tensioner weared the guide cause the tensioner was hitting the guide dry of oil . its important to keep checking ur oil , make sure it doesnt get low . i really didnt need to order the new timming chain nor the sprockets . all i needed to replace was the weared guide and make sure the oil doesnt go low again and its wouldve fixed the noise . i replaced the other parts anyway cause i had already ordered them .now the car runs perfect , fast , quiet , and strong . i hope this helps some of you with that timing chain ticking noise .
