Please report back ASAP after the trip to Honda. If you listen to mine, I think it sounds different. Mine is almost a gurgle rattle.

Thanks in advance!!!!!

SDEUCE, It is extremely difficult for me to hear it other than under the hood, I really have to be straining myself to hear it. So all in all I belive I'm just being really paranoid. I'm still going to have Honda look at it just to be on the safe side (might as well its going to be there anyway).

Sorry to be such a pain your a$$es, but I really appreciate all the input! You guys have been a huge help.
Let me remind you that the noise was very subtle in the beginning, I thought just noisy valvetrain as well, and I could only hear it with the hood popped. I noted @ about 27,000mi when I first started hearing the ticking noise.
I put about 5,000mi before replacing the TCT because the noise was so loud I could hear it while driving.
After the first TCT replacement I heard the faint ticking noise again at 40,000mi and put about 2,000mi before replaceing the TCT again because I could hear the buzzing while driving.
I'm still wondering if its the Mobile1 I've been using.

Anyways, keep us updated what Honda says.

Yeah..... I like blaming Mobil 1! Seems like a common denominator lately! Too slippery maybe?

And yes, some things can be too slippery!

I use Mobil 1 10W-30 EP too but the noise did go away after changing the TCT, so it has to be more than the oil being the factor (if the oil brand has anything to do with this in the first place).

Yeah, but my thoughts are that the Mobil1 is so slippery, that it could start the chain of events with the TCT. Pffft... who knows... Im rambling. I am, for certain though, changing out the oil first break in the weather.

We REALLY should start a thread about the TCT and what oil people have used in their cars and what the failures are like. A little study. We may see a common oil used in connection with problems..... Could be a smart Idea for all of us.
