I installed mine last night. Everything went well, no more startup noise! I have a MY00 with 80k miles.

Just did mine tonight due to a chatter on warm starts. Would rattle at idle while at lights as well. Thanks to this thread, I swapped in the new one and not a peep out of it so far.

Well, the first time I started the car no starter run-on noise. This morning, the second time I started the car, while leaving for work, the noise is back. To me this noise always sounded like the starter, has anyone actually seen a starter with run-on? I am really pissed now because I installed a part that probably didn't need to be installed and probably never had problems with.

The cam tensioner noise and starter run on are totally different sounds. Have you thought of taking it to a Honda specialist.

2002, 52,000 miles. Did not have the noise on cold startup ever. Did have the noise after warm up. Only at idle at first. If I came off idle the noise stopped immediately. This was the case for the first week or two after the very first time I heard the noise. After the second week or so same situation, noise after warm up only at idle, but, it started to persist beyond idle for 1000 to 2000 rpm. However, as the rpm increased the noise would diminish until 3000 rpm or so where it was gone completely. I'm sure this was just the problem getting worse. This occurred for another week or two until I changed my tct and the noise has not returned.

Interesting fact - The noise never occurred cold but was only intermittent when warm. However, I could make the noise occur every time I wanted by hitting V-tech after warm up and then returning to idle.

The noise = Card in spokes is the best verbal description I've heard yet.

Changing the tct was a 2 on a scale of 10. Took all off 3 minutes. I did not use the bolt and nut method to hold and release the plunger. I used the maintenance plug and just pulled the pin.

Another interesting fact - I know 4 Honda dealer techs who all looked at and lisented to the car. One with a mechanics stethoscope. None of them knew what it was. I also went in and asked their parts counter people how many tct's they have ever sold. They told me none.

Thats funny that us non techs know more about the issue than techs working at the dealer. Makes you feel real confident to bring your car in.

I just ordered my 3rd one from hardtopguy. This is the last one I will ever put in, as the car is for sale!!!
