I have a new tensioner on the way, but I was wondering what would happen if we were to leave the noisy tensioners in. It is causing any damage or is just leaking down when at rest and does it have full holding power when the motor is running.

Going to do the timing chain autotensioner this weekend. The honda manual says to torque the two autotensioner bolts to 8.7 ft lbs. I could not find a torque spec for the maintenance bolt-is there one? Any opinions to which torque wrench is better clicker vs dial. One last thing-is it a good idea to coat the o-rings with oil before installing the autotensioner?

Thanks

I paid like $125 for mine. Check out Majestic Honda's prices (online). Or Bill can probably hook you up a lot faster for a good price.

Do you guys think I have a noice autotensioner belt, or is it my lost oil cap?

Is there any way to inspect the autotensioner belt to see if indeed it does need replacing?

In my car, when i throttle there's no noise but when i take my feet off and the rpm starts to fall there's this annoying noise which sometimes sounds worst and sometimes not so bad. What do you think?

Tensioner,

Just had mine replaced last week under warranty.

Over time it gets worse and worse, and if the tensioner snaps, you risk damaging the AC, Alternator and basically the engine.

For those of you doing it yourself, keep us posted on how hard of a job is it?

We are talking about something totally different here. This is the chain tensioner for the timing CHAIN.

You are talking about the serpintine belt tensioner for the BELT.

You're off topic as well. This is not a belt tensioner.

If your oil cap fell behind the engine, and you can't find it, then that's your noise. It's common.
