Timing chain tensioner
so i went to one of the mechanics yesterday and he said i need to change my timing belt tensioner because everytime i start the car it rattles, metal to metal.. at first i thought its my exhaust but he said,
no its not your exhaust its the timing belt tensioner..
has anyone of you guys encounter any of this problem...
symtoms
1. sound like metal to metal sound
2. once the car is warmed up it stop then right after it cools down a bif
3. certain days its really loud cranking sound like metal to metal.
4. then when it cools down a bit and start the engine. it makes that sound again.. n

theres multiple threads in regards to this sound..usually an oil change is a temporary solution...the chain tensioner is hydraulically assisted. s2000s are notorious for having chain tensioners going bad. PM "Billman"..he can give you the details.

BTW everyone i just did the test myself ...
i had my brother start the car.. and sure enough the sounds is coming from the tensioner im not sure whats it called, the one that holds the belt.. somewhere inside if the tensioner is inside then it must be it ... ill try to do a 2nd test.. i tried couple times and i guess i cant duplicate it..

TCT usually goes for about 120-150 depending on the dealer. installation takes about 30 min if you have basic hand tool knowledge. trickiest part is not letting the pin fall into the hole. theres a bunch of DIYs around.
