like I have the same problem with my MY05, I have almost 50k miles (FINALLY), and I get my oil changed every 2000-2500 miles, last time I heard the ticking, it was right before an oil change.. and I changed it, and it was all gone... except, I have noticed that right when it starts clicking/ticking again, i'm about a good quart of oil short in my block. After like 1500miles??? is that regular?? hahaha.. dayum. like I know I VTEC often and all, but I don't leak oil anywhere. I put in 5quarts each time i change my oil... lmao..
this ticking for me occurs right before my oil changes, like more recently in the past month or two.. and only ticks when i start it up, cold or warm... and around the 1500-2200rpm range.
TCT????? btw, it sounds like its coming back from the far end of the head, nearest towards the firewall.. is that where our TCT is located?? or can it just be the harmonic vibration, making it sound like its coming from back there??
you guys help me! haha
thx,
Tylor

tylor...AP2s have lower oil consumption than AP1s. i would double check for leaks and what not. the TCT is located on the lower left corner of the head(if you were looking at the engine head on with the hood up)

I think that is what needs to be done to mine. I thought I needed a valve adjust ment, but i did it last night and the noise was still there. Me and my uncle used his stethescope to here where the noise was coming from and it is a ticking come from the head. I'm looking into getting it fixed next week now that I think I know what it is. I should probably just go ask Honda.

a temporary fix is an oil change..but ive replaced 2 on my car already. the conclusion ive come up with is that since the TCT is oil pressure assisted, as the oil gets older it gets thinner therefore not creating the density and pressure thats ideal for the TCT to retract all the way back in. also..do you run Mobil 1? a lot of threads involving bad TCTs seemed to have revolved around Mobil 1. I switched to Royal Purple..and the noise went away.
