Default Timing chain tensioner

Well ive been reading alot of the threads and it seems the sound im getting is from the timing chain tensioner gone bad. I get the fluttering sound kinda like paper flapping in the air or a playing card goin thru the spoked of a bike wheel. Its loudest at about 3000-4000is rpm. At idle with a light rev i can hear it. I was just wondering for those of you that have changed the tensioner out about how much do they cost and did it work?

Well, if the tensioner is your problem... Then yes they work. You can buy them from Hardtopguy for about 125-130. I could also be that your valves need to be adjusted, or something completely different.

That's exactly what mine sounded like, and yes, the TC tensioner completely eliminated it.

I hate to chime in with the same possibility in half the post I've made... but your sure it couldn't be clutch buzz? If you're pretty sure of the general location, then I agree. If your timing chain manages to jump you can do serious damage, but I doubt its that far gone at this point. anyone else?

The clutch buzz is prevalent on all model years, it's just not as noticeable with the updated clutch pressure plate.

I have the buzz on my '04.

It will do it out of gear as well, and aftermarket or not it can happen. By chance are you still running an oem friction disk with an upgraded pressure plate?

^^^Not 100% sure becuase I bought the car from a friend and he had it changed right before. I thought the clutch buzz was only heard on decelaration? I hear it when i accelrate normally especially loudest at around 3000-4000 rpm, its a constant fluttering not really a buzzine sound. Can u describe the cltuch buzz?
