Timing Chain Replacement question, Tapping noise ?
Hi,
I have 2004 s2000 f20c with 143,000 kilometers on the car,
last week when I was installing my new coilover Ohlins R&T, I did the complete engine service, changed the air filter to k&N and oil filter also I filled her up with some Motul 5w-40 x-cess ( before ran 0w30 Castrol). everything good but I have noticed a tapping noise coming out of the engine, something like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0TfSvxGbfo .
So I would like to ask what do you guys think, (I did valve timing at 128,000 km along with sandblasting the TCT because it was very bad)
Is there anyway to check if the timing chain is streched without taking apart the engine? and
Could you help me list the parts I will need if I will get to replecing the timing chain ?( do I need to change water pump/ oil pump aswell ? )
Thank You.

Valve lash within specs? How old is the accessory belt? Maybe worn belt tensioner or pulleys?

Why would you do anything? The engine sounds fine.
If you really insist on doing it you should replace both the oil pump and water pump plus the following:
-Banjo bolts (never know maybe you got old ones by mistake)
-Valve retainers (again maybe you have AP1 retainers)
-rod bearings (why the heck not)
-LMAs (path everyone with a noisy engine seems to be going)
-injectors (dirty ones make noise too)
Yes I am being an a$$ because I find it ridiculous that you would want to go through the effort and spend the $ on something that isn't broke. Sure it is your time and $, but why the heck did you make the post asking for opinions then?!
