Is the Timing chain dependent on any other belts
Quick question, is the timing chain independent of any other belts? I had a cloth get stuck in the fan, alternator belt it made a hell of a noise when I cranked the engine. I am pretty sure the timing belt is independent from these other belts or is not affected by the other belts operations. Just confirming this. Thanks.

The timing chain resides inside the front engine cover and is completely independent of the externally visible serpentine belt (a.k.a. accessory drive belt). There is only one belt that drives the alternator and A/C compressor (and supercharger if fitted). The fans are electric and are not driven by this belt.
BTW, I can't think of any cars that have an integrated timing and accessory drive belt. Why are you asking?

I guess on some cars the secondary camshaft is gear driven from the first and the timing belt runs only one camshaft directly. (Toyota?)
If someone assumed the camshafts are gear driven and never changed the belt, that could be bad.
Always ask if unsure
