My engine is also ticking. You can hear it especially in garages. I noticed that the noise started since I started using Mobil1 (4k miles ago). It does not concern me particularly; some oils just make the engine run a little louder. Car has 15k miles on it and is NA. Valves were adjusted 3k miles ago, but that didn't really change the noise. Next time I'm gonna use Amsoil.

Pulled the valve cover..adjusted the valves.. everything was fine. none of the retainers looked to be cracked by looking at the keepers. noise is still there when warm.

any other ideas. im going to pull off the tct tomorrow and replace it with a spare i have.

I have heard a similar sound on my old Integra and it was after we replaced a gasket on the intake manifold. I would check around your intake manifold, and exhaust manifold.

So the ticking is still there. Did a leak down test and got
1- 5%
2- 14%
3- 13%
4- 4%

During the leakdown when pressurizing cylinder #2 at TDC i could hear leaking in cylinder 3 and vise versa. I took the valve cover off and tried pressurizing 2 and 3 again but this time turned the crank to the point where all of #2s valves were still closed and #3s exhaust valves closed. the noise went away but every cylinder that had exhaust valves open heard the air rushing noise. Same result with cylinder 3 pressurized. Pressurizing 1 and 4 following the same procedure did not make any noise in any of the other cylinders.

Does this sound like slightly burnt exhaust valves on 2 and 3? Now that i think of it i did notice ever so slightly tight valve lash on 2 and 3 exhaust after the ticking started.
