Default Ticking coming from engine.

I currently have a MY00 with 104,000 kilometers with Comptech supercharger (used for 10k) at 7-8psi
550cc injectors and greddy emanage ultimate.

Car runs air fuel ratios between 11.5 and 12.2 at WOT.

Last week i decided to change the oil but didnt have the usual amsoil that use 5w40 so in the mean time i ran castrol syntec 5w40. Had the oil topped up and took the car for a drive.

When i got back from the drive (with a couple WOT 2nd and 3rd gear pulls) i pull the car into the garage and i hear this ticking noise. When i pop the hood i cant hear it as well as when the hood is down. So i jacked up the car and i could hear the noise from the exhaust side of the engine. I dont really get the sound when the car is cold and it still runs strong. the ticking sometimes goes away.
I was going to check my valve clearances and retainers.
The car had the ticking before i hit the dyno (cause it went away and isnt that loud) and made 290whp (cars stock besides CTSC w AC)

Any ideas

Compression is also OK. 215psi on my gauge. 4 years ago it read 215 with the same gauge before the CTSC

TCT could be resonating downwards? Did it sound like that last time you had to change the TCT?

Last time i changed the tct it was a start up grinding sound that i had...never an idle noise like this. What leads me to think its not the tct is that i dont really hear it from above the engine.

My first inclination would be to look for an exhaust manifold leak. These are difficult to find and can be masked at times. Have it inspected closely. Look for any type of abnormal marks/coloration on heat shield or other metals in the vicinity of the manifold if you can't detect anything with a stethoscope.

Exhaust manifold leaks can be mysterious because they can occur randomly and only at certain times with a small crack or hole in a gasket. That's why the stethecope doesn't always work. You will need a good flashlight and a mirror to inspect underneath and behind stuff to look for evidence of abnormal heat.

Sounded like valve noise to me, but I am not a mechanic, so take it as such.

Report back what clearances you find when you do your valve adjustment
