Arrow Ticking

Sandblasted the TCT (which looked fine and moved freely to begin with), did a valve adjustment. No luck. The sound to me sounds is definitely either in cyl #1 or somewhere in the front of the motor but it's really hard to narrow down audibly exactly where it's coming from. This is a warm motor with about 1k on the oil. It makes the same sound cold as it does warm. To me it seems to be oil-pressure related because it subsides for a second after revving. Any insights appreciated.

Is it coming from the pulleys or water pump? Or does it sound like its inside the engine? From the vid it sounds like its coming from the belt system area...

first i would stop turning the car on and revving it..

I don't know what it could be.. but last time my engine made ticking noises I had to replace the bottom end because a piston ring fried and scored my wall.. (due to oil starvation)

BUT that ticking didn't sound like your ticking.. your ticking sounds like its happening somewhere in the head..

get a new tensioner and try it out, that maybe the cause.

That is 100%, without question, a bad TCT.

I'm inclined to think that some slight ticking is present from the timing chain and its spockets wheter the TCT is good or bad. Naturally a more severe ticking is prevalent when the TCT is defective but mine seems to have an ever so slight ticking present upon cold starup at high idle.It gets less obvious as the engine warms up. I've set valves twice and tried new TCT and sandblasted worm TCT. The slight ticking is still present on cold start. It would only stand to reason that no metal chain and spocket setup could be silky smoothe with no rotational lash noise whatsoever.

The chain can and does run whisper quiet.

If it doesn't, and the tct fix did not help, then a more agressive tct may fix it.

If not, your chain, guides, and possible sprockets are worn. No ticking at all is acceptible from the chain.

You know, out of the 24,000 miles i've had the car since i got it with 43k, the TCT has been flawless.

Now the filler neck on the other hand... has been a major ****** pain in the ass. Is that thing easy to replace? Because i'm about tired of having a gas cap that is ridiculously hard to screw in.

It should be. It's in the trunk behind the carpet panel.
