You just need to "anoint" it with Astroglide.

When it comes to valve adjustments in our engines, here is a general rule of thumb. Since our engines redline at 9000, adjust the valves around 12,000 miles on the odometer initially and adjust/check at about 30,000 thereafter. Now, these are general guidelines and not meant to be carved in stone. I also realize that Honda DOES NOT recommend earlier maintenance intervals. Personally, I change my oil more frequently than the recommendations. In other words, I maintain my equiptment above and beyond the recommendations.

One of the most beneficial adjustments we can make to our engines is the valve lash adjustment. Conversely, if someone doesn't know what the heck he/she is doing, then that adjustment could actually destroy the engine. I prefer to do it myself.

Mine just gets louder as the miles go on. Annoyance. Only thing to really do is replace it. Though if it's not shot why do that? Only to get rid of noise.

Is this something I can do at my garage or something I would have to let the dealer do . I'm thinking Helms manual?

Funny joke that was. Personal lubricant Astroglide is. For bunghole is, not for clutch.

Well, I mean a lubricant of some kind...not specifically AstroGlide. Maybe KY...
