Default For those with Mugen intake look at this..I have a few questions

www.gotogarage.co.jp

click tuning

then click thing by spinning wrenches at top of page

how hard would this be to do(either on own or with body shop)???
what kind of money would it cost?
what materials would be needed??

maybe not exactly like what is shown but something similar(i dont know if i like the final product, but if it could be formed more like the Mugen then I really like)

any extra power gain from this more cold air design??

i'm thinking it will do what the mugen front bumper does but save a lot of money

any input would be appreciated

Dude, that looks retarded, almost like a tumor/wart. But to do it you'd just dremel your bumper and slap it on. I can't imagine it'd be that hard to do. It doesn't have excessive curves so molding it on shouldn't be that bad. But placement doesn't seem right though. It should be lower. Look at the last pic it's pointed at the outside of the intake and not the opening.

OK since you refered to the car looking like it has cancer now I will agree..it does look BAD(on a blue S it kinda has that STI nasty look to it)..but i think the idea is good

it is a cheap version of the mugen bumper I think

would you consider doing it to stock bumper?

Do you think it would have a reasonable Positive effect??
or is it not worth the time and save for the mugen bumper???

thanks Dan

There is really no reason to do that for the Mugen intake. The Mugen draws air from a cutout done in the airguide tapping into the high pressure pocket created there. Not only does it get the air from the right place, but it is engineered with an adequate size to carry it (although it does require the hood cut), and mounts the high flow filter so that it can have high pressure air on all sides. IMO it is one of the most effective CAI's, and produces a more noticeable result than any other I have tried. Luis did do a post showing instrumented on road gains at both low to high speeds.

Thanks Cdelena

BUT

Im just really curious...why does that Mugen front bumper have a hole in it then?

I am assuming for more air
that is why i thoght if you put a hole in stock bumper it would do same as Mugen for lots less money

thanks again

I would think it is because the aero design brings the top curve down at a different angle so that the intake would have nowhere to draw air without a hole.

What does that have to do with the subject?.. if you are itching to post random pictures there are forums for that, but this is not the one.

Ok, thought about this some more. I don't know if anyone else remembers, but Mugen actually at one time had 2 different versions of the intake. One that was designed for the SS bumper, where the intake opening is in the upper part of the fascia. The second one was the standard one where the opening was more towards the opening in the OEM bumper. I believe, if memory serves me correctly they discontinued the standard version and only make the SS version now. So that goto garage opening would be more beneficial then say for the older version which is snaked toward the OEM Center Vent.
