let me give some insight on this topic. for those following it. far too much thinking has gone into this post. listen, all you have to do, is take the end of the hose off of the nipple at the thermostat housing, then, you take a 3/8 bolt, that has a good length shank before the threads start,, lets say 1/2 inch to 1 inch. saw off the head, and saw off the threads, now you have a little *bullet*. lube it up, then stuff it up into the hose. now, slide the hose back onto that nipple.(id suggest hose clamp around the outside of the hose where the bullet is) no coolant will flow into that cooling circuit now. at the manifold side the gasket blocks it. so you have now closed off this entire circuit. which includes the IAC, and the TB. yes, you will see a benefit, and no it will not effect idle warm up times.
there, now you have a non hokey engine compartment. and no one can even tell you have the gasket in. also i would suggest you use gaskacinch, on the gasket. it is an anaerobic sealant. you paint it on very thin, and it only dries to the absence of air. DO NOT overtorque the manifold, as some have suggested. drive the car for a day , then after it cools, retorque them all again in the factory pattern. this will be the last time you have to touch it. i have 15k miles on mine now, and not one problem, except that all the haters cant figure out why the car is so damn fast. lates dave
Since this thread is so old, I don't really know what you are responding to. However, it seems that you are dissin' the Hondata gasket. If that is so, then I think you are way off. I've had the Hondata gasket for about 50K miles, and I love it. It does WAY more than block coolant flow through the TB.

did you read what i posted? dissin the gasket? i have it on my car. i was explaining a better way to block the coolant passages that are on the manifold. explaining what i feel is the best way to do so.
