Wouldn't that increase the piston compression ratio but effectively also lowering your redline to avoid piston/valve contact?

i would think that it would increase compression maybe making some kind of power increase. Not sure if it would cut rpm thou

Increase Compression, slight bump in power due to compression and also could induce knock. You also decrease your piston to valve clearance.

Atomic posted this on my thread in the NA section. http://cosworthperformance.com/store...gory=72&page=1

Im looking into doing this also, but I need to confirm that 76mm is the OEM thickness on a OEM headgasket, so I know how low I can go. I would maybe go with a 48mm or something like that, but racer is right

On a stock engine, I don't think piston to valve contact happens until 10.7k rpm, so there should be at least a little wiggle room with decreasing that tolerance.

Not that I would go through all the trouble...

That 76mm is another dimension. The OEM thickness is the neighborhood if 1mm, give or take. You might could trim a few tenths of a mm off that, but there quickly comes a point where you are not getting adequate sealing of the head if the gasket is too thin.

Regardless, I suspect the gains from this would be minimal while the risks would be much greater. I would look elsewhere for power.
